In Virginia, divorces can be either contested or uncontested. Uncontested divorces are much better for everyone involved. They are faster and cheaper and much less stressful. But “uncontested” means that both parties are in agreement as to all issues and unfortunately, not all situations can be resolved by agreement. In those situations, the divorce is “contested” and you need an attorney that will fight for you.
But Family Law includes more than just divorce. I frequently deal with child support, custody and visitation cases as well. In these cases it is especially important to know the intricacies of each Juvenile Court because each city and each courtroom within each city has their own individual practices and procedures.
Our Law practice commonly assists military and civilian families with preferred non-contested divorces which are financially and emotionally the best route to go if possible. We also take no time to get to the next level if required, providing contested divorces and name changes.
